Welcome to the website of the world famous Swan and Royal,
Regrettably due to a serious fire and the extensive damage caused to the Grade 2 listed building, the Swan and Royal is closed until further notice to allow repair work to be carried out. The Swan and Royal Hotel is scheduled to re-open in May 2010. Please do not call the hotel during this period as all phone lines have been removed while work is carried out. Terry and Carol would like to take this opportunity to thank customers for their support and understanding during this very difficult period.

Set in the centre of the main street of the historic market town of Clitheroe, the Swan and Royal in a former coaching inn dating back to the 1830s. In its earlier years as a hostelry, it boasts guests both famous and some say infamous, in the local area and throughout the country. You can stay in rooms named after a selection of the most interesting of these people. In the last two years, the Swan and Royal has undergone a major refurbishment, keeping its original character, but making it a warm and friendly place to eat and drink. During the day it is the ideal place to rest tired legs after walking round the market or the wide range of individual shops Clitheroe has to offer. At night it is a little more lively - being the centre of town makes it the centre of socialising!
